Uma das pedras mais famosas naturais, são as encontradas nas montanhas do Arkansas, no Japão as mais famosas são extraídas do distrito de Narutaki, ao norte de Kyoto. ⛰⠀⠀

Com a tecnologia e avanço industrial, surgiram as pedras sintéticas, estas possuem um padrão em seus grãos comparado com as naturais, tendo maior eficácia no resultado final. As pedras chegam a variar de 150 à 30.000 grãos, sendo que o maior número remove menos material da lâmina e sua afiação e polimento serão mais finos. 🔪⠀⠀
